All this talk of lifting, training, diet, fitness... How about a before and after picture thread? Ill go first. This is one round of the program Im doing from left to right.(before, 30 days, 60 days, and 90 days). Two weeks and two days of rest and recovery have taken place since then. Im starting round two today of a modified p90x program. In the 16 days of rest its amazing how much stronger I feel since my after picture was taken. Just gos to show how important proper rest and recovery periods are for continued growth and preventing injury. Today ill be starting round two good and strong!!!

That program you're on seems to be working well....come on over to this thread p221.ezboard.com/fcombatmartialartsfrm8.showMessage?topicID=556.topic and post your pics as well. My "before" pic is in the thread, and I'll post another pic in about 5 1/2 months.

You've already achieved a pretty impressive transformation. Stick with it; I'd be interested to see what you eventually achieve.
Yes; check out the other site. Magnum's picture left most of us flabbergasted. And that is his "before" shot. |

Joe,
You look great, especially in that picture on the far right. Why mess with a good thing by trying to add mass, my man? It will come of its own accord. Don't compare yourself to a bodybuilder or those Men's Fitness Covers. The P90X folks I've seen have far, far more impressive physiques than 99% of those 'fitness models' who are typically naturals and quite a few juice. (That is per Dan Duchaine, the late steroid guru, who managed the diet and training programs for many top bodybuilders and fitness stars. He told me 'if you think those men and women can train for up to 120 minutes a day lifting and doing aerobics and stay big, you don't undertand how the body works.) And what are you adding "mass" for? Either way, the diet/training required will be a whole lot different than what you're doing now. And Mag...wow! The dude's arms are HUGE! Seriously, you want to talk about a natural beast, he's it. |

"Joe,
You look great, especially in that picture on the far right." I think that was directed towards me. I wanted to let you know my name is Tom I should clarify with a picture of what my goal is because I dont always paint the picture that I see in my head, with words that will paint the same picture in other peoples heads. The bigger guys that you see in mens fitness is ideal to me. They look like the guys that have been doing p90x with the goal of building size for at least two or three rounds. One of the guys in the p90x videos, a black guy, is totally the ideal size that Im looking to gain. Unfortunately I cant find a picture of him online but here is a picture that is a fair representation of my goal none the less. ![]() Million Dollar Body Independent Fitness Coach

Is that achievable without chemical help? I was just thinking the size of his chest and arms and at the same time how narrow his waist is. That would be hard to do on nature's terms.

Quote:Yeah, it's a "before", but I'm adding in much more calisthenics, and bodyweight type exercises, as I feel that I'm not as balanced as I'd like to be. Believe it or not, I smoked cigarettes for almost 20 years, finally quitting for good 3 1/2 years ago in June '04. My physique is a product of a combination of "old school style" weightlifting and odd objects like sandbags, kegs, etc (always drug free). I do very little actual "bodybuilding", and very rarely do any direct arm work. I've come to the realization that being that weight (almost 270 at 5'11" and 44 years old) is just too much, and I'd like to work on things I now consider more important (I enjoy good health, and I'd like to keep it that way |

Quote:His build reminds me of one of my friends (actually my friends arms are bigger) and I KNOW he wasn't on anything. He was just a naturally thin/wiry guy, and he worked out with me for a few years. His upper body was ripped, but he couldn't put mass on the lower body, no matter what he tried. I used to tell him if there was ever a "Mr. Mosquito" legs contest, he'd definitely win |

Well Tom, at least your hair got bigger. Other than that, I don't see alot of difference for all the time you spend. But, if you feel good and it makes you happy...carry on!

" can definitely see a difference in his physique, but I think his best bet would have been to do the exact same poses in the "before & afters". Still, I don't see how you don't see "alot of difference" (he isn't on 'roids as far as I know ) ...For 3 months time, those are decent results....I also wonder how much of a measurable strength increase he had. "
I have camera problems, currently the flash on the camera I was using is dead so I cant take any good pictures period. The side stretch pose I did at day thirty and again at day ninety. Those are my favorite comparison pictures. As far as measurable strength, before I started I could do 30 standard pushups. 90 days later I did 41. I barely did 12 decline push ups before, now im doing 35! At first when I did a shoulders and arms routine, my first set I would curl 20 pounds and the last set I was worn down to curling only 8 pounds. Now im starting at 25 pounds and doing my last set at 20 pounds. Muscle endurance has improved tremendously. The first time I did AB ripper X I could correctly do only 2 out of the 11 exercises, now I can do all but one. In yoga X I couldnt do any of the twisting balance poses, now I can do all but one and that is coming shortly. Those are just some examples. I write everything down, if I were to list all my improvements I could probably write a book..LoL Million Dollar Body Independent Fitness Coach

one this morning and put it together with my before photo. I'm a happy guy.
