I've gotten up to 9 chinups doing grease the groove. I switched to ladders a week ago and now I can only do 8. Plus I hate doing them. Is this just one of
those things that doesn't work for some people? I'm 210lbs if that's relevant.

Well if you hate doing them then you're probably never going to get them working for you,and more to the point why bother just use a method you do enjoy.
But that aside I think ladders are more about getting a lot of reps done in a small space of time not really a method for increasing your max reps |

and down and back up again, never in a straight line up. And like Donovan said, if you hate doing them, then you'll never really be able to do a lot of
them anyway.

I would echo what Donovan5 and mrdave said: 9 chinups is nothing to be ashamed of and most of the time these things aren't linear. I know it's easy to
get greedy and to think that bcuz we are putting in a certain amount of work on something that it should translate into numbers-- I know that I have learned
the hard way that it just isn't so.
